MOBY Performs in Detroit

MOVEMENT Electronic Music Festival is held on Memorial day weekend at Hart Plaza down town detroit on the river front. Over 100,000 people from around the world enjoy the music festival which has 5 stages and over 100 artist.Many may not know this but Detroit is the birthplace of Techno music, which what spawned this festival.

Movement brings in some of the biggest names in electronic music to the stage each year. This years lineup for day one was…

Beatport stage– Chris Mallnchak, 16 Bit Lolitas, System of Survival, Miguel Campbell, Hecktor, Matador,Paco Osuna, MOBY.

Electric Forest stage– Sandoz ft Marcus Flow, Ronin Selecta w/ Bombscare, Sinistarr, Nit Grit, SuperVistion, Downlink, The bug, Noisia, Andy C.

Redbull stage– xxxy, T.Williams, Shigeto, Onra, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Dave Clarke, Riche Hawtin.

Made in Detroit stage– Mr. Joshooa, Ataxia, Chuck Daniels, Bruce Bailey, Al Ester, Anton Miller, Terrence Parker.

Underground stage– Lucy, Nina Kraviz, Steffi, Nicole Moudaber, Ben Sims, Slam.

The sounds of the festival echo off all of the buildings as you make your way down town. The walls of Hart plaza quickly get filled with chalk drawing. People gather to watch break dancers perform their tricks. The scent of all the amazing food carts is in the air. Detroiters love to dress up for events and this one they go all out.  (I was planning on taking photos of people on monday but sadly it rained all day.)

Day one had so many amazing shows but Moby gets the crowd so amped its hard to pick anyone else as the best of the day.
