Based on athlete feedback, the Red Bull Hart Lines event format has been updated for the second year competition. First, each athlete will take a total of four runs; two on each lane. The average score from each lane will again be averaged to make up the skater’s initial score. Second, a timed element will be incorporated to encourage overall flow and fluidity through the course, something no other skateboarding contest has ever done. For the skater who finishes the course with the fastest time, no points will be deducted from his original score. But the second fastest skater will have one point removed from his original score, the third fastest skater will have two points removed from his original score, and so on up to a maximum deduction of 10 points. Lastly, once these points have been deducted for the timed element, the final scores and rankings will be determined reflecting an overall mix of difficulty, style and speed. This dynamic, one-of-a-kind course will feature a mix of existing as well as custom built stair sets, rails and ledges by California Ramp Works.
Sal Masekela, the definitive voice in action sports, will host the Red Bull Signature Series show. Red Bull Hart Lines is brought to a national NBC audience in partnership with Pennzoil Synthetics and BFGoodrich. For more information, please visit redbull.com/hartlines.
